What you are actually installing

The four answers a download page owes you, before the file lands.

  • Signed and notarized by Apple

The DMG is signed with our Apple Developer ID and sent to Apple for notarization before it ever reaches you, which means Apple has already scanned it on its side. Nothing about this file is anonymous: macOS can name its publisher.

  • Seven days, entirely unlocked

No card, no account, no trial to activate. Pausr runs complete from its first launch and only asks you to choose a plan on the seventh day. The countdown is stored on your Mac and stays with it, so reinstalling does not hand out a second week, and nothing about you is stored anywhere else.

  • Nothing leaves your Mac

The whole install is one app in your Applications folder and one folder of local settings and statistics: no background service, no system extension, no login item you did not ask for. There is no account and no server either, so your history is a set of files on your own disk, and Pausr never reads what is on your screen.

  • Leaving takes one drag

Drag Pausr from Applications to the Trash and it is gone. To wipe your local data first, open Settings, then Local storage, then Delete all local data. No uninstaller, no leftovers, no email asking you to reconsider.

Questions before installing

macOS will not let me open the app. What now?
macOS asks for a confirmation the first time you open any app downloaded from the web: click Open and you are done. If the dialog offers no Open button, right-click the Pausr icon in your Applications folder and choose Open from the menu, then confirm. What you are seeing is the question macOS puts to every app that came from the internet, not a warning about this one in particular.
Apple Silicon or Intel: which file do I need?
The download button picks the right one for your Mac. If you would rather check yourself, open the Apple menu, choose About This Mac and read the chip line: anything starting with M is Apple Silicon. Taking the wrong build is harmless, it simply refuses to open.
Does Pausr need an internet connection?
Only twice: to download the app, and to validate your license key the first time you enter it. After that Pausr works entirely offline. Breaks, statistics and settings never need the network, which is also why there is nothing to sync and no account to create.
I am on Windows. Is there anything for me?
Not yet. Pausr is built for macOS alone, which is what lets it hold a break back during a call, a screen share or a fullscreen game rather than guessing. A Windows version is planned: the waitlist button on this page is how you hear about it first, and your address is used for that one email and nothing else.
What do I need to run Pausr?
  • macOS 12 Monterey or later
  • Apple Silicon (M1 and later) or Intel
  • About 500 MB of disk space
  • No account, no internet connection required to run
